This particular Elm tree had grown around a chain over the course of several decades. The stump with it's protruding chain was sitting around my shop for years. At one point I even gave it away to my apprentice only to steal it back from him, ha! Finally, I had an idea to "embellish" this peculiar act of nature. Perhaps the perfect wedding gift!?!
