Three Days of Transformation
Day One
This is the day you fall in love. You’ll walk through our private lumber yard and choose the exact walnut slab that speaks to you — the wood that will become your heirloom. Under Florian’s guidance, you’ll begin your woodworking apprenticeship and transform raw material into vision.
Day Two
This is when you surprise yourself. Under Florian’s expert guidance, you’ll use state-of-the-art woodworking machinery and artisan techniques you never thought you could master. By day’s end, you’ll watch your table taking shape — and discover exactly what your hands are capable of creating.
Day Three
This is the moment you’ll never forget. As you apply the final oil finish, the grain deepens, the character emerges — and you’ll step back in disbelief at what your hands have created. This handcrafted heirloom table is yours. Forever.

25 Years of Craft at Your Fingertips
For over two decades, I designed and built artisan furniture for high-end clients like Louis Vuitton and Dior. I remember the first time I walked into a woodshop 25 years ago — I was hooked on Day 1 and never looked back. There is something profoundly magical and deeply satisfying about working with wood.
A few years into my career, I invested in a sawmill and began sourcing fallen trees from across Northern California. That’s when I truly understood the material. When you mill a log into slabs, you realize the greatest artist of all time is nature itself — the colors, the grain, the whole history of the tree revealing itself as you cut. California Black Walnut became the heart of my work because of what I learned milling lumber.
Now the time has come to open my studio doors — to you alone, as a couple, or with those closest to you — and share the craft, the material, and the passion that have defined my life’s work. Together, we will learn to read the same poetry in the wood that hooked me twenty-five years ago.

Is woodworking experience required?
No experience required. From Tree to Table is designed for complete beginners. Florian guides every participant personally from day one. All tools, materials, and instruction are included.
How is this different from a woodworking class or retreat?
This is a private apprenticeship, not a class. The studio is reserved exclusively for you and your party of up to four for all three days — no other participants, no rotating instructors, no videos. Every decision is made one-on-one with Florian in his private Napa Valley studio.
What will our group build?
Each person builds their own Waterfall side table from a single slab of California Black Walnut, selected personally from Studio Roeper’s private lumber yard on Day One. Everyone leaves with their completed handcrafted heirloom.
Can we build a custom project instead?
Yes, custom apprenticeships are available for console tables, coffee tables, and small to medium dining tables. Cost and duration depend on your specific project. Please inquire to discuss the details.
Who is Florian Roeper?
Florian Roeper is the founder and master craftsman of Studio Roeper, established in 2003 in San Francisco. With over 25 years of professional experience and a BFA from California College of the Arts, his work has been commissioned by Dior (35+ boutiques worldwide), Louis Vuitton, Four Seasons Hotels, and designer Peter Marino.

Can I book this alone or as a couple, or do I need a full group of four?
You do not need a full group. The $12,950 price is a flat rate for the private session and covers exclusive use of the studio for up to four guests, whether you come alone, as a couple, or with friends or family.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend 3–6 months in advance. This is a highly exclusive private experience with limited annual availability. Summer and holiday periods book earliest.
Are meals and accommodation included?
Gourmet lunch is included each day. Lodging is not included, giving your group the flexibility to enjoy Napa Valley’s world-class hotels and dining independently. We are happy to share curated local recommendations.
Can the finished tables be shipped home?
Yes. Finished tables are professionally packed and shipped to any home or office in the United States. Shipping fees are determined by destination.
