Three Days of Transformation
Day One
This is the day your group falls in love. You’ll walk through our private lumber yard together and choose the exact walnut slabs that speak to you — the wood that will become your family heirlooms. Under Florian’s guidance, you’ll begin your woodworking apprenticeship and transform raw material into vision.
Day Two
This is when your group surprises itself. Under Florian’s expert guidance, you’ll use professional woodworking machinery and artisan techniques you never thought you could master. By day’s end, you’ll watch each other’s tables taking shape — and witness what your hands are capable of creating together.
Day Three
This is the moment you’ll never forget. As your group applies the final oil finishes, the grain deepens, the character emerges — and you’ll step back together in disbelief at what your hands have created. These handcrafted heirloom tables are yours. Forever.
Why I Created This
For over two decades, I designed and built artisan furniture for high-end clients and luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Dior. The time has come to open my studio doors to small, private groups — and share the woodworking craft, expertise, and passion that have defined my life’s work.
I remember the first time I walked into a woodshop 25 years ago — I was hooked on Day 1 and never looked back. There is something profoundly magical and deeply satisfying about working with wood, and now you and your group finally have the opportunity to experience it together in Napa Valley.

Early in my career I invested in a sawmill and sourced fallen trees from across Northern California. When you mill logs into slabs, you begin to understand that the greatest artist of all time is nature itself — incredible colors and grain patterns emerge as the history of the tree reveals itself. Together, we will learn how to read the poetry of a tree.

No experience required. From Tree to Table is designed for complete beginners. Florian guides every participant personally from day one. All tools, materials, and instruction are included.
How is this different from a woodworking class or retreat?
This is a private apprenticeship, not a class. Your group of four works exclusively with master craftsman Florian Roeper for all three days — no other participants, no rotating instructors, no videos. Every decision is made one-on-one with Florian in his private Napa Valley studio.
What will our group build?
Each person builds their own Waterfall side table from a single slab of California Black Walnut, selected personally from Studio Roeper’s private lumber yard on Day One. Everyone leaves with their completed handcrafted heirloom.
Who is Florian Roeper?
Florian Roeper is the founder and master craftsman of Studio Roeper, established in 2003 in Downtown Napa Valley. With over 25 years of professional experience and a BFA from California College of the Arts, his work has been commissioned by Dior (35+ boutiques worldwide), Louis Vuitton, Four Seasons Hotels, and designer Peter Marino.

What if our group is smaller than 4 people?
Smaller groups are welcome at a discounted rate of $16,795. Contact Florian directly to discuss your group.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend 3–6 months in advance. This is a highly exclusive private experience with limited annual availability. Summer and holiday periods book earliest.
Are meals and accommodation included?
Daily gourmet lunch is included each day. Lodging is not included, giving your group the flexibility to enjoy Napa Valley’s world-class hotels and dining independently. We are happy to share curated local recommendations.
Can the finished tables be shipped home?
Yes. Finished California Black Walnut Waterfall tables are professionally packed and shipped to any home or office in the United States. Shipping fees are determined by destination.
